A LOGICAL ACT OF WORSHIP!
Verse 2 Be not fashioned
(mh sunschmatizesqe). Present passive imperative with mh, stop being fashioned or do not have the habit of being fashioned. Late Greek verb suschmatizw, to conform to another's pattern (1 Corinthians 7:31; Philippians 2:7). In N.T. only here and 1 Peter 1:14. According to this world (twi aiwni toutwi). Associative instrumental case. Do not take this age as your fashion plate. Be ye transformed (metamorpousqe). Present passive imperative of metamorpow, another late verb, to transfigure as in Matthew 17:2 (Mark 9:2); 2 Corinthians 3:18, which see. On the distinction between schma and morph, see Philippians 2:7.
"Truly truly I say unto you you must be born again.…" JOHN 3:5
There must be a radical change in the inner man for one to live rightly in this evil age, "by the renewing of your mind" (th anakainwsei tou nooß). Instrumental case. The new birth, the new mind, the new (kainoß) man. That ye may prove (eiß to dokimazein). Infinitive of purpose with eiß to, "to test" what is God's will, "the good and acceptable and perfect" (to agaqon kai euareston kai teleion).
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God." I
"truly, truly, I say into you, unless one is born of
water in the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
REMEMBER, WHAT JESUS IS SAYING: PAY ATTENTION!
Unless your worldview is changed from above you're not even
going to perceive the kingdom of God.
Jesus says this again about change, but with the same
emphasis on solemn truth. Unless your worldview is changed from above you're
not even going to enter the kingdom of God.
One thing that I'm convinced of--the church is exactly like
a band of sheep. Sheep will follow a leader whether it's Jesus or not.
"Tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by
every wind of doctrine (teaching), by the trickery of men, by the craftiness in
deceitful scheming."
(See our blog on further examination of John 10)
THE ACT OF WORSHIP IS MAJOR TEACHING.
The Scripture verse that really defines worship is certainly
in this passage in Romans 12:1-2.
